Schaller Anderson Medical Administrators, Inc. (SAMAI) has been retained by the State of New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Office of Medicaid Business and Policy (OMBP) to manage elements of the New Hampshire Medicaid Program. This arrangement results from enabling legislation, HB 2 passed in 2005. The primary elements of the program are:

  • An Enhanced Care Coordination (ECC) Program
  • Medical administrative services - prior authorization and concurrent review
  • A 24-hour nurse advice line for Medicaid recipients
  • Provider and recipient satisfaction surveys
  • A formal and systematic assessment of access and availability of the existing Medicaid provider network

The contract for these services was awarded to Schaller Anderson in January 2007 after a competitive bidding process.

In order to achieve results and improve the value of health care experienced by Medicaid recipients, Schaller Anderson will deploy programs, policies and processes that have been used elsewhere in the country with excellent results. One important element of program design is the construction of advisory committees with representation of the local provider community.

We are honored to have been given the opportunity to contribute to the improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of care delivered to New Hampshire Medicaid recipients. The success of that effort will be significantly dependent on our ability to work collaboratively with the provider community, with a minimal amount of additional administrative burden imposed. In fact, it is our firm expectation that our efforts will actually enhance the ability of the provider community to care effectively for the Medicaid population.

We hope you join us in our efforts. We are happy to provide answers to any questions you might have.
